 Shake of the day!- Peanut Butter Banana “Milkshake”

hey Everyone,  Sorry for the lack of food prep check in this week.  I am out of town on spring break and enjoying the leisure of actually preparing meals when I need them.  Don’t worry, I will be back on the food prep this week and will be sharing all of the details. During my time off from food prep I have also had the time to be a bit more creative with my daily shakes.  I had this one today and I am in LOVE.  It was so yummy that I just had to share it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 serving of vanilla Shakeology
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth.
  2. Serve and ENJOY!!

I am not joking when I say I totally felt like I was cheating with this one.  It was so delicious!!

Why Shakeology works for me

I have always been very skeptical when it comes to Shakeology.  Maybe it is the cheapskate in side of me saying NO!, but I never really wanted to take a chance and try it.  Finally after much thought, and reading a very inspiring blog I decided to give it a try.  After just 4 days of using it, I was a believer

While many people do use Shakeology to lose weight, I can’t say whether or not it has helped me or not in that aspect. Primary reason being I don’t weigh myself. I did not start using Shakeology to lose weight. I don’t share much about this because, well its king of gross but my whole life (practically) I have suffered from chronic constipation. It has gotten so bad sometimes that I have even had to go to the hospital. I have tried countless remedies (both prescription and over the counter), visited countless specialists (both in the US and in Mexico), and tried countless diet changes but I have never found anything that helps enough to continue using it. Since the day after starting Shakeology, I have officially had a BM every day. YAY!!! While this will not seem like a big thing for some people, this is a huge improvement from my once or twice a week, many times laxative induced, struggles.

To do a little experiment, I skipped my Shakeology for a couple of days.  For the days following this I had no BM’s, and my normal gas and bloating returned. This is why after just a week, I am completely sold on Shakeology and really can’t (or at least don’t want to) imagine my life without it.  Shakeology has been completely life changing for me!!

Results- Week 1 Of the Bodybuilding.com 200k Transformation Challenge and the Labrada Lean Body Challenge

Hey everyone!  I just wanted to check in to give you a progress update on how my first week of the Bodybuilding.com  200K Transformation Challenge and the Labrada Lean Body Challenge.  If has been a GREAT week and I am super excited about my results so far.

If you read my plan on a previous post (which you can find HERE), I have set several goals for myself each week. So here are the results

  • I have drank 7 of 7 planned gallons of water
  • I took 100,186 0f 100,000 planned steps.
  • I did 357 of 240 minutes planned cardio
  • I completed 3 of 3 planned HIIT sessions
  • I completed 5 of 5 planned strength training sessions
  • I stuck to my meal plan 7 of 7 days.

As you can see, I have had a very successful week with my goals but I am going to be honest, I didn’t really think it was working.  I just didn’t feel any changes happening and honestly I almost always felt bloated.  I was actually dreading taking my progress pictures when Sunday rolled around. In the end I sucked it up, and did them.  I was SO SHOCKED with the changes.

This week, in addition to my normal goals, I want to work on trusting the process. Awesome things are happening (as you see) and I am going continue to work hard and enjoy it!!

Why my success isn’t determined by a picture perfect body.

When I first started working out and changing my lifestyle, I remember complaining to my trainer about how the results just weren’t happening, and he told me to enjoy the process. That half the journey is the process it takes to get there.  At the time I thought he was crazy, but now I can look back and see that he was SO right. I was patient and put in the work, and now I am more proud of the journey I have had than the results I have seen.  Don’t get me wrong, great progress has been made, but the mental change and the journey that brought me here are more amazing than any change that could take place externally.

We are so hard on ourselves, and so unforgiving when it comes to evaluating our own successes When you are on a journey for weight loss or better fitness, you are going through a process that, if you continue, will teach you so much over time. When you start to see that success (from what ever measure you are determining it) you will be able to look back and see all of the growth you have experienced as a person.  For me the biggest area of growth has come from the way I see myself.  In the past my complete self worth came from the number on the scale and what I saw in the mirror.  Throughout my journey I have learn to base my success on how I feel and what I can accomplish. I have gone from a person who really saw themselves as having no worth, and blossomed into a strong, proud woman, who has 100% faith in her abilities. I am too valuable to let something as subjective as exterior beauty and a number on a scale determine my self worth

After seeing this picture today on Facebook I was so in love with it.  For the last 3+ years that I have spent busting my butt day in and day out to see the changes I want to see in my body. Many days I just don’t feel that the results that I have seen are an accurate portrayal of the work that I put in.  It is things like this little little bit of inspiration, from some random person on Facebook, that reminds me that no matter the results that I am seeing in the moment, no matter how I am feeling about my current body state, I am on a journey, I MUST keep going. Because no matter where I am at in this moment, if I keep working at it, it is a heck of a lot better than where I was.
